Lawn Treatment Recommendations
Fertalizer
In the spring- Early April to mid June
In the fall- Early September to mid November
You should avoid applying fertilizer in July and August when the temperatures are consistently above 80 degrees.
Grass seed
If you’re applying grass seed to an existing lawn (over seeding), it can be done early to late spring, and early to late fall prior to the frost. You should not use any type of weed killer or ”weed and feed” type fertilizer while applying grass seed. You don’t want to prevent your new seed from germinating.
New areas- apply grass seed with a lawn starter fertilizer. You will need to cover the new area with loose straw, or a straw mat to protect the seed. Water the new area for 10-15 minutes twice a day during the first 5-7 days. You can drop down to once a day for the next week. Avoid mowing the area until you can cut the grass down to 3 inches.
Lime Treatments
Lime can be applied throughout the year. I recommend using a pelletized lime for easier application. Lime is used to reset the soil Ph levels.
